We are a group of likeminded individuals that support copyright. We understand that without copyright most of the music we listen to, the books we read, the movies and television programs we watch, the software we use, and the videogames we play wouldn’t exist. We don’t download illegally and we are willing to pay for the intellectual property we value. We realize that copyright is not about protecting large companies; rather it is about protecting creators, who have as much of a right to earn a living from their hard work as we all do. We understand that if there is no financial incentive to create, less creation will happen and we will all suffer. We support the concept of “fair use”, and support uses of copyrighted materials that legitimately fall within the scope of fair use such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. We support intellectual property and understand the vital role it plays in our society. Even if we become frustrated with the growing pains that the copyright industries are experiencing (e.g. services that don’t quite give us what we want, prices we think are too high, etc.) we won’t abandon our support of copyright and we will show our support or lack there of for different business models with our dollars.
